EXTERIOR Finished in Honda Blue Metallic, the paintwork boasts a remarkable polished shine and bright finish. There is a tiny ding on the nearside front wing and two touched-in stone chips to the lip of the bonnet. The panels are straight and free from rust or corrosion, as is the underside of the vehicle. There is a small shallow crease in the drivers door approximately 4 inches in length and a minor crease in the offside rear sill section. These lesser imperfections in no way detract from the overall excellent appearance of the car. All the factory fit exterior trim is in excellent order, as are the glass, lights and badges. There is evidence of minor parking damage to the rear bumper on the offside corner where the plastic has been pushed in slightly. INTERIOR The interior of this classic Honda is in beautiful condition. The Blue velour Tricot seats are outstanding having remained clean and free from wear. The matching blue carpets are clean, fresh and have suffered only minimal age related wear. The matching blue vinyl door cards with carpeted lower section compliment the interior very well and are in fantastic unspoiled order aside from a tiny split in the vinyl around the drivers door window winder. The dashboard and headlining are both in perfect factory fresh condition. All switchgear and interior functions operate impeccably including the original standard fit radio. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION Fitted with the original Honda 1602cc four cylinder OHC unit, the engine performs faultlessly and is wonderfully quiet and smooth. The Hondamatic automatic transmission with three forward gears is beautifully effortless and slick between changes and offers a hugely relaxed feel for the driver. The illuminated Hondamatic mode indicator works perfectly and proves itself to be an enormously useful feature. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The standard 13 inch steel wheels which are in excellent condition and completely free from damage are shod in quality 165/80/R13 tyres which have vast levels of tread remaining. The original chrome centre caps are present and intact and proudly display the Honda emblem. The diagonal dual circuit braking system with hydraulic servo assisted ventilated discs up front and servo assisted rear drums provide ample stopping power, with assured and steady feedback. HISTORY FILE This remarkably well preserved example has led a very cosseted and pampered existence, having covered just 38,078 miles with three private owners. Registered new by Honda main dealer Cambridge Garage Ltd on 22nd December 1983 as a demonstrator, the car was first sold to a Mr W Gray. The original bill of sale is present and details the purchase price of £5,575 with a part exchange deduction against a 1982 Datsun DX Auto. Upon Mr Gray passing in June 1986, the car was transferred into the name his widow Mrs E Gray who kept the Honda until June 2012 when the car was sold to close family friend Mr Thompson. Mr Thompson has continued the meticulous level of care bestowed upon the car throughout their ownership. A recent full service by Mr Thompson follows the vast history file amassed by Mr and Mrs Gray including the original service book, handbooks, price lists and warranty cards. The service book has a number of Honda main dealer stamps in addition to a huge collection of subsequent service receipts and invoices. The previous keepers' level of enthusiasm for the car is evident in the history file, which even includes a receipt for a new 'Hondamatic' badge in replacement for the faded original as well as a complete product guide for every machine manufactured by Honda at the time.
