High above the resort of Crans-Montana, the summit of Cry d’Er stands as both a natural balcony and a lively hub of alpine culture. At 2250 meters, it is one of the most accessible peaks in the area, reachable in just a few minutes by gondola from the center of Crans. The name may sound rugged, but the experience is anything but harsh: here, mountains and lifestyle blend seamlessly. Cry d’Er is best known as a winter sports paradise. The upper station connects directly to the ski slopes of the vast Crans-Montana domain, where skiers and snowboarders launch into wide runs framed by snowy ridges and views that stretch across the Rhône Valley. On clear days, the panorama is extraordinary—Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and the Dent Blanche all line the horizon like a roll call of Alpine giants. For many visitors, the views alone are worth the trip, even without skis. In summer the scene transforms. Cry d’Er becomes a base for hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners. Paths wind from the station towards alpine lakes, ridges, and high pastures, offering routes that suit both leisurely walkers and ambitious adventurers. The high plateau is dotted with marmots, wildflowers, and—later in the season—herds of cows grazing in the sun. Adding to its charm is the Cry d’Er Club d’Altitude, a restaurant and lounge perched right at the arrival station. Known for its terrace with sweeping views, it serves everything from hearty alpine dishes to refined modern cuisine. The spot also hosts après-ski gatherings, DJ sets, and concerts, making it a cultural focal point as well as a scenic one. Cry d’Er is more than a peak—it is part of the Crans-Montana identity. Easy to reach yet rich in atmosphere, it embodies the dual character of the resort: sporty and stylish, adventurous and social. Whether in the glow of summer sun or under winter snow, Cry d’Er offers one of the most iconic vantage points in Valais, where the Alps reveal their grandeur in every direction.
