This guided sleep meditation will take you through a relaxing guided cosmic journey that will lead you to a deep restful sleep. Throughout this guided meditation you will be exploring some meditation concepts and will be guided through a rich visualization experience. As you settle into a relaxing position, you will be guided through a therapeutic breathing exercise that will further deepen your meditative state. In your deeply relaxed state, you will develop a keen awareness of your thinking mind and you will be guided through an exercise to detach from your thoughts, further bringing awareness to your inner self and a deeper connection to your body. In this state you will notice that you have the ability to be your own observer of both your thinking self and your physical self. As you recognize the ability to detach from your physical and mental constructs you will have the opportunity to shift your perception and begin to sense beyond your physical and mental boundaries. We will use this expanded sense of awareness to visualize a cosmic journey through space and time to the beginning of time or the big bang. By visualizing this cosmic journey you will come to see a perspective of universal connectedness and the inherent value we each possess and offer as players and creators in the totality of cosmic existence. This understanding or awareness that we are all, unique, connected and important can be a very therapeutic and comforting perspective and insight. Ultimate I hope to offer a perspective that offers a sense of connectedness and comfort as we are all born of stardust elements. Some might view this guided meditation as an astral projection or an out of body experience exercise (OBE), but I prefer to characterize it as a visual exercise of internal awareness where we change our perspective and imagine possibilities beyond our physical and mental confines. As with many of my guided meditations, I will implicitly or explicitly seek to enforce some important concepts regarding meditation and mindfulness including: How it is helpful to approach a meditation practice with no rules, judgments or expectations in mind Understanding that practice and consistency is helpful in achieving results in meditation That meditation is an inward journey of relaxation, focus, awareness and presence The mindful concept of being aware and connecting with your body sensations The mindful concept of focusing on your breath The concept that your are more than your physical body The concept that you are not your thoughts and your thoughts are not you Exploring our perception of time and how your sense of time can shift when meditating The mindful concept of being a deliberate conscious observer of your own presence That meditation is a tool that is accessible to anyone, anywhere and anytime The understanding that you can retrain your brain away from unproductive self talk The understanding that you can catch unproductive thoughts and not react to them This MindSpanse meditation channel is the creation of Rob Kaufman and Craig Kaufman.
