I stayed at Myogaya Honkan in Nasushiobara, Tochigi JAPAN. Currently, only three inns remain in operation in Shionoyu Onsen at Shiobara onsen village. Among them, Myogaya Honkan is the oldest inn in the area, having been in business for over 350 years. Founded in 1674 during the early Edo period, its hot springs along the Kanomata River have been beloved as a "hidden hot spring" ever since. The riverside open-air bath is integrated with nature, strongly reminiscent of its time as a therapeutic hot spring inn. The lower villa, formerly used as a therapeutic hot spring building, is a surprising six-story wooden structure. The exquisite bath is located on the first floor. The bath is surrounded by the murmuring of nature and overlooks the Kanmata River, making it a hidden hot spring in the valley. It is frequently featured in advertisements as one of Tochigi's most iconic hot springs, and its unique atmosphere will amaze you. While the main building retains a retro Showa-era atmosphere, the Taikokan building, a highly valued cultural asset, offers a charming dining experience and a historical atmosphere. The carefully prepared kaiseki banquet dinner was also very tasteful and wonderful. A wonderful inn with a great bathing experience and a truly charming atmosphere. I highly recommend this inn to everyone. It has a hidden hot spring feel, but I think it's also a wonderful inn that families can enjoy. __________________________________________________________________ ■Myogaya Honkan http://www.myogaya.com/ ■Hot Spring Details Sodium chloride hot spring (Kariko no Yu) pH 6.0 / Source temperature 55.8°C Simple hot spring (Myogazawa no Yu) pH 6.8 / Source temperature 52°C Direct from the source ■ Accommodation fee (with 2 meals) JPY30,000/2 persons per night __________________________________________________________________ Some of the information in this video is based on online sources.
