In the heart of Central Asia, the majestic landscapes of Turkmenistan welcomed distinguished guests from the Kingdom of Eswatini. King Mswati III, accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMotsa, embarked on a historic journey to this ancient land, renowned for its rich culture and vibrant traditions. Their visit began with a warm reception in Ashgabat, the capital city, where the royal couple was greeted by Turkmen officials and local dignitaries. The air was filled with excitement as traditional music and dance performances showcased the unique heritage of Turkmenistan. A highlight of their trip was attending the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, known as LLDC3. At this important summit, King Mswati III and Inkhosikati LaMotsa joined leaders from other landlocked nations to discuss shared challenges and opportunities, focusing on economic development, regional cooperation, and sustainable growth. Their participation underscored Eswatini’s commitment to international collaboration and the pursuit of solutions for landlocked countries. On the sidelines of the conference, the King, accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMotsa, toured the Türkmenbaşy Oil Processing Complex (TNGIZT) and the Türkmenbaşy International Seaport. The purpose of these visits was to be appraised of Turkmenistan’s advanced infrastructure and to establish links with the view to working closely with the Kingdom of Eswatini. The experience and insights gained from these tours are expected to play a pivotal role in the establishment of the E5.2 billion Strategic Oil Reserve, set to be built at Phuzamoya in Siphofaneni, with construction commencing before the end of this year. Throughout their stay, the royal couple also explored iconic landmarks, including the gleaming white marble buildings of Ashgabat and the ancient ruins of Merv, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They engaged in meaningful discussions with Turkmen leaders, strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering cultural exchange between the two nations. The royal couple experienced the renowned hospitality of the Turkmen people, sampling local cuisine and participating in traditional ceremonies. Their journey not only celebrated the friendship between Eswatini and Turkmenistan but also highlighted the importance of unity and mutual respect among nations. As their visit came to a close, King Mswati III and Inkhosikati LaMotsa left Turkmenistan with cherished memories and a renewed commitment to international cooperation, marking another significant chapter in the history of both countries.
