The narcissist likes to control and manipulate and when you dont react with a narcissist you can take the control back from the narcissist. The narcissist wants to tell you how to live your life and when you learn how to shut down a narcissist you can live the life you choose. Narcissistic abuse happens in part because narcissists like to push buttons. Shutting down a narcissist is difficult because narcissist gaslighting and projection can be damaging. In this video I discuss you can respond dont react with a narcissist. Narcissistic abuse doesn’t have to control your relationship with the narcissist. Narcissist push buttons because they have to protect against shame due to a lack of object constancy. They are vulnerable and prone to narcissistic injury which can lead to narcissistic rage. The person with narcissism thinks only of themselves. They lack empathy and cannot understand the emotional experiences of someone else and this makes them vulnerable, which is something they cannot handle. Vulnerability is pushed away whenever they get a chance, even if it means engaging in narcissistic abuse and ensuring the presence of toxic relationships. Don’t react to narcissistic abuse! The only goal is to control and manipulate you – don’t let it happen. if the narcissist engages in silent treatment in relationships they enter into, it is to further control when other techniques don’t work.
