Courtesy of the artist and Salon 94, New York, New York Transcript: Jó napot kívánok! Hello! I’m Colleen Bell, the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary. Welcome to the Chief of Mission Residence here in Budapest. I’d like to tell you a little bit about the Art in Embassies program which since 1963 has worked with U.S. galleries, artists and the United States State Department office of Art in Embassies to curate beautiful collections of art that are exhibited in Embassies, Consulates and Chief of Mission Residences around the world. Please join me on a tour of the collection being presented here in Budapest. This piece, Liquid sky by Marilyn Minter, is one of the works by contemporary American artists represented in the Budapest 2015 Art in Embassies collection. Marilyn Minter is a New York-based photographer and painter who explores themes like sex, imperfection, glamour. She draws on the esthetics, a fashion and advertising imagery to examine and explore the concepts of beauty and glamour in society. I really love having this very modern, conceptual work of art inside a dining room, in a house that was built in the 1930’s, so you have the juxtaposition of contemporary art with these traditional architectural elements, and I think it really works. I’ve enjoyed discussing this work by Marilyn Minter and thank you for joining me on the tour of the Budapest 2015 Art in Embassies collection. I also thank the artist Marilyn Minter and Salon 94’ for participating in this exhibition and sharing this piece with me and the Hungarian audience.
