I took myself off on my own to explore my city, Toronto. I don't get out to the west end of the city very often as the traffic here can be dreadful. Taking the Queen streetcar to the Roncesvalles neighbourhood my first stop was Dear Grain for a coffee and a lovely scone with lemon curd. I wandered in and out of some of the shops along this street not too far from my old high school (I avoided that). I planned to go to a store on Queen that had a set of Kitpas Japanese crayons (so nice and buttery!) but last minute I remembered a kid's store on Roncesvalles called Peach Boy also sells them. After that I hopped on another streetcar back to Queen West to stop at one of my favourite stores - The Paper Place. I get the cover material for my own sketchbooks here. Unfortunately they didn't have the colours I initially picked but that was all right. I then stopped for another beverage as I knew Cafe 23 nearby has a great outdoor space. I've only been there in the winter so it was nice to see it with a cold drink this time. More opportunity for sketching. I only managed a line sketch which I added colour to when I got home. Another lovely day in the city! As always, be sure to check out my website. There are a load of things for fellow artists like colour charts that I swatch on this channel available for download as a pdf. There are art book reviews and instructions on how to make your own sketchbook (with video here on YouTube). I also have a list of art shops in different cities including my hometown of Toronto. There are lists of artists who inspire me that you can find on Instagram or YouTube as well as others you’ll find in art history books. I also provide a list of art related podcasts and online courses. You can also see what I take when I'm urban sketching. And you can purchase handmade watercolour through my website! So much for you for all things art. https://www.eileenreillyarts.com/ or follow me on Instagram @eileenreillyarts and @ot.to_watercolour
