Light From Joensuu: EPISODE 1 – Birth of the World’s Largest Light Installation

Finnish artist Kari Kola is preparing the world’s largest light installation in Albany, Australia, and this episode shows how the project begins to take shape. We follow Kari and his team as they arrive in Perth, meet the local production crew, and drive south to explore the dramatic coastal landscapes of Albany. The team studies the terrain, learns about the area’s unique history, and discovers themes that will guide the final artwork. This episode was filmed in June 2024. Created as part of the Light from Joensuu campaign, the series follows the journey from the first rough ideas to the finished Lighting The Sound installation in Albany.
