Have you ever noticed how a simple smile can brighten someone’s day? Science says it’s not just a feeling—it’s a phenomenon. This talk explores the fascinating power of emotional contagion, revealing how our brains are wired to mirror emotions and why something as small as a smile can create a ripple effect of positivity. Learn how neuroscience explains this response, why spreading joy matters more than ever, and how a single act of kindness can transform the energy of an entire room. Ready to change the world, one smile at a time? Resekiani Mas Bakar is a seasoned academic and psychologist, currently serving as a lecturer and Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). With a deep passion for experimental psychology research, she has spent the past 15 years exploring topics such as Service, Interpersonal Relationships, Emotional Labor, Emotion Regulation, and Embodiment, publishing her findings in nationally and internationally acclaimed journals. Her strong background in Industrial and Organizational Psychology has made her a sought-after speaker, coach, and trainer, with a focus on human resource development. Drawing from her expertise in psychology and years of research, she will shed light on how an authentic smile holds the potential to transform relationships, uplift emotions, and create meaningful connections in a world that often neglects its simplicity and power. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
