This video introduces Rising Sons — a proposed, free, before-school leadership and wellbeing pilot for boys aged 14–18. Rising Sons is designed to explore whether early-morning routine, age-appropriate physical activity, and peer-led leadership can support confidence, engagement, and readiness for the school day. The pilot is voluntary, low-burden for schools, and focused on learning rather than outcomes. The idea comes from my work as an NHS physiotherapist of 23 years, including seven years specialising in persistent pain management. Much of the challenge I see in adults has its roots far earlier in life. This pilot is an attempt to act further upstream — carefully, thoughtfully, and in partnership with schools. This presentation outlines the rationale, structure, safeguarding approach, and evaluation plan for the pilot, and is intended for school leaders, trusts, and potential partners who are interested in preventative, relationship-led approaches to adolescent wellbeing.
