Summary: Netillat Yadayim before eating bread is a rabbinic enactment designed to prevent ritual impurity that can affect the hands, even when the rest of the body remains pure. Because hands frequently come into contact with many objects, the Sages required washing before bread—traditionally the core of a meal—to protect the sanctity of eating, especially in relation to teruma. This practice was eventually extended to all Jews so it would become a consistent and ingrained part of daily life. Beyond its technical purpose, Netillat Yadayim elevates the act of eating, turning an ordinary physical necessity into a moment of holiness and mindfulness, in fulfillment of the Torah’s call to “sanctify yourselves.” If you are interested in Daf Yomi Shiurim Please subscribe to our Channel and you will receive notifications of our short Daf Yomi Shiur If you are interested in Daily Halacha Shiurim on different topics Subscribe If you want to hear a weekly Short Vort Dvar Torah Devar Torah please follow us Rabbi David Elmaleh Hechal Shalom Or Oziel Surfside, FL Miami Visit our Website www.hechalshalom.org
