Stephen Smith's death; Crime scene photos released in homicide investigation

Stephen Smith was found dead on Sandy Run Road in July of 2015. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is now investigating his death and recently, adding extra agents to help with the case. On Friday, News 4 received photos from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after a Freedom of Information Act request of their Stephen Smith file. The photos show the crime scene on July 8, 2015. You can see crime scene tape put up around the area and a red box on the road where 19-year-old Stephen's body was found. "The fact that Stephen's body is apparently placed in the middle of the roadway, and there's no debris of any kind present," said Ronnie Richter, Smith family attorney about the scene, which he believes was obviously not a hit-and-run as first determined by some authorities.
