In this video we take a ride on Metro Tasmania (Hobart) bus #651, a 1995 Scania N113CRB with an Ansair Tasmania 'Orana' body. We ride the bus on one of the routes that makes up Hobart's southern 'Go Zone' along Clarence Street. Metro purchased 147 Scania N113CRB's between 1989 and 1995, all bodied by Ansair Tasmania. Even today in an era where low floor buses reign supreme it's still the most popular bus in the fleet with 67 buses still in service. They're still a very common sight on Hobart's streets, being used regularly on weekdays. An odd feature of these buses is that they feature passenger operated rear doors, which I demonstrate in the video. Whilst loved by bus enthusiasts their presence has meant that Metro Tasmania has lagged behind in disability compliance, whereas most bus operators interstate have completely got rid of their remaining high floor buses from route service. It isn't good from a passenger perspective either as these buses are slightly shorter than a normal full sized rigid bus, not good during peak hours. Thankfully for Metro passengers these buses are beginning to be replaced with new Bustech XDi's. Date: October 2018 Subscribe to ThebusofdoomFSX: https://www.youtube.com/user/Thebusof...
