First Alert Weather – March 3, 2026 Before you head to bed tonight, here’s what you need to know. High pressure parked northeast of the islands is keeping our trade winds in place — and they’re locally breezy. If you’re on the windward sides, especially near the mountains, expect a few brief passing showers overnight into the early morning hours. Rainfall has been limited thanks to a shallow inversion around 5,000 to 6,000 feet, basically acting like a lid on taller rain clouds. Most spots are dry, but the Kohala Mountains on the Big Island have seen the steadiest showers this evening. As you head out the door tomorrow, plan for breezy easterly trades and mostly sunny skies leeward. Windward and mauka neighborhoods could still see a quick shower early, but nothing that should cancel plans. Hold onto hats and secure anything lightweight outdoors — the trades will stay active through Wednesday. Looking ahead, winds ease slightly late Wednesday into the weekend and turn more east-southeast, shifting showers toward east and southeast-facing slopes. Rain totals remain light for now. However, an approaching front could bring more unsettled, wetter weather early to mid next week — something we’ll be watching closely. Stay tuned.
