The 8mm diameter leadscrew that I ordered was delivered to me slightly bent, which was quite understandable because it was rather long. In order to straighten it back, I fabricated a cam handle so that a manually controlled force could be applied at several specific spots identified. The force was applied through a piece of hardwood so that it would not damage the screw threads. Also the straightening process could be stopped before it could be over-bend. The bend curve of the leadscrew naturally come to rest on its side. Stepped clamps were fastened at the ends with the high spots in between.
