This eleven-and-a-half-mile circular walk through Hertfordshire offers an exciting trig point challenge, weaving through varied landscapes in and around Hemel Hempstead. Starting at Boxmoor, the route navigates roads to The Water Gardens before a steady climb onto The Nickey Line, leading to the first trig point, S4459, at High Street Green (149 metres). Continuing north, the journey briefly re-joins The Nickey Line before cutting through Lovetts End and Wood Farm, where Trig Point 10709 (151 metres) lies cleverly concealed within a bush. Heading south through Piccotts End and Fields End, the hunt for the final trig point, S4455 (162 metres), proves equally elusive, hidden amidst the undergrowth. The walk’s conclusion eases downhill into Pouchen End, following a peaceful stretch of the Grand Union Canal before returning to Boxmoor, an adventurous exploration of Hertfordshire’s rolling terrain and its well-hidden markers.
