Did you grow up in the UK in the 80s and/or 90s? If so, chances are many of these will ring a bell with you. Look out for toys, games, chocolates, sweets, crisps, breakfast cereals, fast food... Basically all the things you never felt you had enough of back then while your parents told you to had too much. There are some surprise celebrities for you to notice, some nice old-fashioned animation, interesting special effects, and plenty more besides. Pressing questions I have: Is that Pritt Stick character (1:53) voiced by Charles Collingwood, a.k.a. Wordy from Look and Read? (Maybe not, but I'm sure I recognise the voice.) Longer shots, but are a young Emma Bunton and Kellie Bright in the ads at 6:21 and 10:10 respectively? (Again, maybe not, but there definitely are plenty of famous faces for you to recognise throughout.) Since when were Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles Needler's Fruit Pastilles, or is "Fruit Pastilles" just a generic name that anyone can use? I have no memory at all of that quite ropey-looking Magic Riddle film (19:20) - do you? And what's the fascination with dolls that wet themselves? I wonder if they were allowed to keep calling that one Lucy Lou (16:19) after the rise to prominence of the similarly-named actress. I do hope all those Jesmar Almost Living Dolls were put in a large heap and burned, though - something about them rubs me right up the wrong way. What do you make of the first and last ones with which I've bookended the compilation? I suspect they're examples of ideas that wouldn't make it past the brainstorming session these days, but I don't think most of us would have batted an eyelid back then. Funnily enough, though, both songs were featured on the very same edition of Top of the Pops a year or three earlier. And, speaking of music, try playing that InterCity ad (20:30) at x1.25 speed, and you can just about sing Chas and Dave's Ain't No Pleasing You over the top of it. YOU DON'T LEARN VITAL FACTS LIKE THESE ANYWHERE ELSE. Once again, the Pink Windmill challenge is on, but it's a very obvious one that we've all seen before so not really a challenge at all. Or are there more than that? I thought I recognised another, but on repeated viewing I'm not so sure, and I keep convincing myself either way back and forth. Let us know your findings in the comments. (If you're a copyright holder and have any objections, please feel free to contact me. Alternatively, I haven't monetised the video, so you're welcome to do so, and that way everybody wins.)
