PRESERVED RAILWAYS IN THE 2010's Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway (Kent) 31st March 2012 On a rather exposed open part of the Kent coastal area is situated the 13.5 mile light railway, which runs from Hythe via Romney and Dymchurch to Dungeness and there the line loops back to return to Hythe. This is the picturesque Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway and houses 16 Locomotives built to approximately 1/3 of the True scale. The line itself was opened in 1927 and is of a 1' 3'' gauge. It operates along the coast, and on my visit the wind was quite strong, therefore in the video is some unfortunate wind noise. However the railway put on a splendid normal everyday display, so I was not at all disappointed. The Lighthouse at Dungeness offers a panoramic view of the Loop at Dungeness and is well worth the climb to the top. I trust you will enjoy the scenery and sights and sounds of this delightful railway. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually..
