Follow me on: Instagram : / yogawithcarter Facebook : / yogawithcarter About Me I’ve been on the yoga path since 1995. What began as a healing journey—recovering from injuries earned on the ice rink, football field, and motorcycle track—soon evolved into something much deeper. The discipline of Ashtanga rebuilt my body, but it was the making of my first feature documentary film, ONE, in 2002 that opened the door to the spiritual dimension of practice. During that three-year pilgrimage, I had the honor of learning from some of the world’s great spiritual voices—Ram Dass, Deepak Chopra, Thich Nhat Hanh, Robert Thurman, and many more. Their wisdom helped me discover a bridge that links breath, body, and spirit. In 2005, I trained with legendary yogini Beryl Bender Birch and, with her encouragement, stepped into teaching. My classes blend the grit of an athlete with the heart of a seeker. You'll find traditional asana infused with storytelling, humor, mindfulness, and down-to-earth spiritual reflection. I teach in a way that meets you where you are—physically, emotionally, energetically. My teaching style spans hatha, vinyasa, yin, flow, and restorative. I offer a space that invites awareness, exploration, and truth—held in the quiet strength of presence. I’m a Michigan native, an artist, writer, and independent filmmaker. Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve been sharing my offerings, private sessions, workshops, events, and retreats. Ready to deepen your practice?
