When my babe was with me (and awake), it just wasn't the same when I unrolled my mat. It went from being a place to feel simultaneously strong and relaxed to a feeling of chaos and even stress. (What if she has a meltdown!?) Babies are unpredictable. But once I got over the fact that my yoga practice would be different with my baby underfoot, I realized that it can still be wonderful. It's not a bad practice to learn to go with the flow, adapt to your baby's mood, and go a little slow at first. A short mommy and me yoga session with baby at home is definitely different than the calm, grounding prenatal yoga class. But, believe me, it is SO worth it! Take this time to get to know your new baby, your new body, rest when you can, and soak it all in!
