Philippians 2:1-11 is one of my favorite Bible passages. It is rich in theology and ethics and speaks to what Christian community should be anchored in, which is the Mind of Christ. In clinical psychology, mindfulness is defined as being open and aware of what's happening in the present, by living in the moment as it were, and numerous studies have shown that it is highly conducive to human flourishing and overall well-being. By putting on the Mind of Christ, we can adopt a "Christ-Mindfulness" that helps us become more aware of God's presence in the present, and how we can be the hands and feet of Christ in any given moment. Below is my translation and interpretation of the text I used in the video. PHILIPPIANS 2 1 So if there is any exhortation in Christ, if any loving consolation, if any community of Spirit, if any gut feelings of compassion, 2 fulfill my joy so that you may set your minds on the same love, being of one accord in the Spirit. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in lowliness of mind make others a priority above yourselves, 4 Each person should be mindful about their self-interests, but also mindful of the interests of others. 5 Let this mindset in you be also that which was in Christ Jesus: 6 who in the form of the Theou Hyparchon (the Existing One, the I AM THAT I AM) did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 emptied Himself, having taken the form of a servant, becoming a man. 8 And having obtained the form of a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God exalted Him and granted Him the Name above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on Earth and in Hell, 11 and that every tongue should confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, to the glory of God the Father.
