They're in an exhibition to highlight their declining populations, but making them oversized monsters. STORYLINE: Giant honey bees, beetles and mosquitos loom over visitors at an southern Czech city of Ceske Budejovice. Their creator Michal Olsiak was inspired when bought a microscope for his sons 12 years ago. Peering through the lens, Olsiak discovered these insects with their vivid colours, intricate shapes and tiny details he had never noticed before. The experience inspired him to merge his two long time passions — art and nature — into an unusual body of work. Over the past decade, Olsiak has created 25 sculptures of insects on a larger-than-life scale. The monumental works are now on display in the southern Czech city of Ceske Budejovice. The process is exceptionally time-consuming.
