Day 8 of the Ramadan Special Advent brings an FRV on the W7 which is the shortest double deck route. The FRV was fun to do and I enjoyed it :) I do recommend doing it Route W7 travels through: Finsbury Park, Crouch Hill Stn, Alexandra Park, Muswell Hill Broadway roundabout Operated by: Metroline Garage: Holloway (HT) PVR: 17 (day) 2 (night) Length: 3 miles (4.8km) Frequency: 6-10 mins Start Time: 15:55 End Time: 16:18 24 hour service Route W7 started off as route 212 which had express variations from 12 October 1955 until 7 September 1968, and used single-deck buses for many years. On 21th June 1963 the route converted to using Double Deckers with AEC Regents III RTs and Routemasters spare from route 43 on weekends. 10th May 1969 it was renumbered as W7. The route initially ran with AEC Merlin single deckers, these were replaced by Daimler Fleetline double-deck buses on 26 January 1975, which were in turn replaced by MCW Metrobuses on 11 June 1981. October 1988, the Metrobuses were replaced by Leyland Titans transferred from Bow (BW) garage. With Muswell Hill garage closing the route transferred to Finchley (FY) with operation of Titans and Metrobuses. 15 August 1992, the allocation was transferred to Holloway (HT) and was converted to full Metrobus operation. The route used Metrobuses until 1 February 1997 when Northern Counties Palatine II bodied Volvo Olympians were introduced alongside the Metrobuses, and eventually replaced them entirely by 18 November 1998. 19th August 2000 the route converted to Plaxton Presidents. 18th August 2012 the route converted to using Wright Gemini 2s.
