Join me as I take apart a classic Vostok Amphibia – the legendary Russian diver’s watch designed in the 1960s for the Soviet Navy. In this first part of the project, I’ll carefully disassemble the movement (Vostok 2416B automatic), explore its unique design, and highlight some of the quirks that make these watches so fascinating. The Amphibia is famous for its unusual engineering: a case that seals tighter under pressure, a simple but rugged automatic winding system, and a dial full of Soviet character. This watch came to me non-working, so we’ll see what surprises are hidden inside as I strip it down. Part 2 will cover the reassembly and (hopefully!) getting it running again.
