This is the first in a series of videos in which I will service the Vostok 2416B automatic movement in a Vostok Amphibia "Scuba Dude" watch. My original intent was to diagnose and repair an issue with the keyless works. I bought this watch new last year; and it had an issue where, after setting the time, the hands would move slightly as I screwed the crown back down. The online store I bought it from told me to keep it, and they sent me another one that works perfectly. I have finally decided to try to fix the first one they sent. After finding the cause of the keyless works issue, I decided to do a full service on the watch, despite it being basically new. I have never serviced an automatic watch, or one with a date function; so this would be a good practice movement. If I mess something up, I won't be too upset since I have another one that works, and it only cost $110 new, unlike my more costly Swiss automatics. In this video, I will disassemble the watch and its movement. The next step is to clean the movement parts. I am not going to make a video of that long process, since I have a watch cleaning video online already, and all mechanical watches are cleaned the same way. Here is the cleaning video if you are curious about the process: • Watch Movement Cleaning The next video will show the reassembly process. 00:00 Introduction 01:08 Opening the Unique Vostok Case Back 02:20 Removing the Stem and Crown 04:02 Extracting the Movement 05:32 Removing the Hands 06:30 Removing the Movement Spacer Ring 06:52 Removing the Rotor 07:17 Removing the Dial 07:50 Removing the Date Bridge and Date Wheel 09:27 Reinstalling the Stem and Crown 10:38 Testing The Keyless Works 12:03 Diagnosing the Problem 14:05 Disassembling the Keyless Works, Motion Works, and Calender 18:26 Removing the Automatic Winding Bridge and Reversing Wheels 20:41 Removing the Crown Wheel, Ratchet Wheel, and Click 22:05 Removing the Train Bridge 22:46 Removing the Third, Fourth, and Escape Wheels 23:41 Removing the Barrel Bridge 24:12 Crown Wheel Bushing 24:59 Removing the Cannon Pinion 25:31 The Barrel Fell Out! 25:38 Removing the Center Wheel and Seconds Hand Pinion 26:06 Examining the Mainspring Barrel 26:39 Opening the Balance Jewel Shock Springs and Extracting the Jewels 28:21 Removing the Balance Cock and Balance Wheel 29:18 Removing the Pallet Bridge and Pallet Fork Visit my website: https://watchmakerchris.com
