Today's episode is the concluding one of our Dubai Food Series. It brings together our culinary experiences at four popular restaurants in the megacity which makes it to the most recommended list. And to guide us on this gustatory journey we have with us our gracious hosts turned friends Mona, Lalatendu, Sachin, Ehtesham Rabbani, Dania and Vishal. Our first stop was Al Fareej Restaurant and Bakery. It specializes in Iranian cuisine and we opted for a mixed kabab platter. The succulent and glistening kabab came along with a huge assortment of condiments. There was chelo kabab, lamb kebab, yogurt kebab etc. We paired it with zereshk polo or Middle Eastern berry pulao, fattoush and laban. The meat used in the kabab was of superb quality that you can feel in every bite. The highlight of this place is the huge floor sitting arrangement outside the restaurant. Families and groups of friends could be seen having a great time together over a huge spread of food. The second stop was Al Meshwar restaurant that specializes in Lebanese cuisine. It boasts of a grand palatial facade with grand interiors. Our friends took us there to taste some classic Lebanese sweets and desserts like pistachio baklava, kunafa, awama and the star pistachio mafroukeh which consists of a layer of pistachio and milk based dough topped with clotted cream and sugar syrup. Everything was delicious but the last one was absolutely divine. From there we went to our third stop named the Jumeirah Falcon restaurant for shawarma. This eatery is one of the favourite shawarma places of our hosts. Khubz bread stuffed with tender and smoky shavings of rotisserie grilled chicken, garlic spread and pickled veggies made for a comforting bite. After finishing the shawarma we also ordered a hasan mattar, another popular street food in this part of the world. It is a soft and thick khubz bread stuffed with grilled chicken pieces, garlic sauce, hot sauce and French fries. The interplay of textures and flavours makes it an impressive find. The fourth and final destination was a popular Pakistani restaurant named Muhammed Faizal restaurant which is famous for a meat based dish from Karachi called Katakat. The name is derived from the sound made during the preparation of this unique spicy dish.
