Got a real rarity for this video! We bought a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J with a 400 cubic inch engine and 4 speed manual Muncie transmission! This is one of roughly 500 cars built in 1970 with a 4 speed on the floor! The Muncie 4 speed is the same transmission that came in the GTO, Firebird, etc. The car has a Hurst shifter which I'm not sure is factory or not. Out back is a 12 bolt rear end! The 6.6 liter engine is factory rated at 350 horsepower! This car was no slouch back in it's day, with a 122 MPH top speed and a 0-60 time of 6 seconds. Not bad for the car with GM's longest hood that year! On the front of the trailer was another hot rod, a 1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2. The car was ordered new with a 421HO 3x2 engine and a 4 speed manual transmission. Unfortunately at some point it was hit hard in the rear end and the drivetrain was pulled, but I have the correct drivetrain for the car and plan on putting it back on the road eventually! This Grand Prix had been sitting for about 25 years. It had been inside, but hadn't been started for a long time. We bought the car with a nearly stuck engine and a transmission full of water, so who knows what the car endured. Despite the condition I found the car in, I was able to get everything on the engine and transmission freed up and operating enough to put a few miles on it! The car is overall very solid, but would basically need a frame-off restoration to bring it back to its former glory. Despite the condition, it's an extremely rare vehicle that deserves to have some time spent on it. I can say that I'm probably the only person in the county with such a car!
