Cycling from Merida to Baca to a favorite Thai Restaurant

After purchasing some basic equipment - a couple of dry bags, lights and tire liners, we took off out of Merida heading towards the town of Baca, where we had booked an Airbnb for the weekend. It was a short 35 km's on flat, quiet back roads and should of been an easy ride but rough roads, another flat, a headwind and rain turned our 2 hour ride into a tiring 4 hour ride. We passed through 6 small pueblos along the way and thankfully never made a wrong turn - a first for us. Our Airbnb was top notch and the owners were exceptional hosts providing a beautiful space and a deliciously huge breakfast. On Saturday we did a bit of exploring to the Hacienda Kancabchen, which is a working dude ranch and the ranch workers were busy tending to all the horses as we poked around. One of the reasons for going to Baca was to have lunch at the Thai restaurant, La Casa de Los Lotos which is located here. It is part of a health and well-being facility that offers therapies for various ailments. The gardens are beautiful and well worth the visit.
