Hornby should make a NEM adapter car for Playtrains, equivalent to the 44107 myWorld Adaptor Wagon from Märklin. Currently, there's no real upgrade path from PlayTrains to Railroad to Hornby Railways; and a coupler converter car would make a huge difference to that. Being able to use sound fitted Playtrains locomotives with fancier rolling stock would also offset the problem that budget DC and DCC "starter" locomotives rarely have sound or steam/smoke effects. Here I'm taking this to the extreme by hauling a DCC controlled rail crane with a lightly modified (I superglued a Kadee 51 NEM363 coupler pocket to the back, the previous owner had removed the magnet) PlayTrains Passenger Express locomotive; showing that even advanced DCC models can be used with these cheap "toys", if only a way to couple them is made available.
