In the context of the “ Militaries for Civil(Ian) Emergencies - M4CE Project”, FOGGS has interviewed key stakeholders, specialists, academics, and leaders to discuss the use of military assets in disaster management and response. Dr. Nora Bensahel is a Visiting Professor of Strategic Studies and Senior Fellow of the Merrill Center for Strategic Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Contributing Editor and Columnist for War on the Rocks, and Adjunct Research Staff Member at the Institute for Defense Analyses. This interview with Dr. Bensahel provides a broader perspective on the future of the military, with references to the use of military resources in civilian emergencies, specifically in the US context.
