Bishop Pass to Mammoth- John Muir Trail NOBO section hike #2, 91.5 miles of Beauty

After backpacking the entire John Muir Trail going Southbound in September of 2019, we decided we also want to do the JMT Northbound. Since we can't get enough time off to do the entire trail at once, we decided to do it in 4 section hikes going North. This is the second section for us toward completing that goal. This coming August 2023, we'll be hiking from Mammoth to Happy Isles, in Yosemite. In June 2022, we set off from the South Lake trailhead in Bishop Creek, near Bishop, CA on a 7 day, 6 night adventure into the beautiful Sierra Nevada back country along the JMT. Our goal was to head over 5 passes, including entering at Bishop Pass, then on to Muir Pass, Selden Pass, Silver pass and exiting over Duck Pass, near Mammoth Lakes, CA. This trip was 91.5 miles, while enjoying some of the most beautiful parts of the John Muir Trail. If you would like to hike the John Muir Trail Northbound, but can't do the whole thing at once, due to timing, work, physical fitness, or otherwise- we highly recommend this section hike.
