Follow our simple how to steps to create this amazing fried pastry that's sure to be a hit. 💙😋 INGREDIENTS (about 25 pieces): 150 g 00 flour 20 g sugar 1 egg 30 g milk 15 g melted butter 15 g rum Grated zest of 1 unwaxed lemon A pinch of salt Seed oil for frying Icing sugar for decorating DIRECTIONS: In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt, then mix. Add the egg, melted butter, grated lemon zest, and rum. Begin mixing with a fork. Add the milk and continue to work the dough with your hands until it forms a smooth, even ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Divide the dough into 2 portions (always keep one portion wrapped in plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out). Roll out each portion with a rolling pin: the dough should be thin. Using a pastry wheel, cut out rectangles and, if desired, make a cut in the center of each. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan to about 175°C (347°F), the ideal temperature for frying. Drop the chiacchiere a few at a time into the hot oil, turning them after a few seconds: they are ready when they are puffed up and golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Once cooled, dust generously with powdered sugar. Serve your Carnival chiacchiere on a beautiful tray: they'll be a hit as a snack, after lunch, or at the end of dinner.
