Bun Dosa (High-Protein Moong Dal Bun Dosa) Ingredients ● Moong dal – 1 cup (soaked for 1½–2 hours) ● Oil – as needed ● Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp ● Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp ● Dried red chilies – 2 ● Curry leaves – a few ● Green chilies – 2 (finely chopped) ● Large onion – 1 (finely chopped) ● Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp ● Grated coconut – 1/4 cup ● Grated carrot – 1 ● Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp ● Baking soda (cooking soda) – 1/4 tsp ● Salt – to taste ● Coriander leaves – a few (chopped) Method 1. Soak the moong dal for 1½–2 hours. Grind it in a mixer with a little water into a smooth batter. 2. Heat a pan and add 3–4 teaspoons of oil. 3. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Let them splutter. 4. Add the chopped green chilies and chopped onion. Sauté well until the onion turns soft. 5. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears. 6. Add grated coconut, mix lightly, and turn off the flame. 7. Now add the ground moong dal batter to this mixture. 8. Add salt, baking soda, turmeric powder, grated carrot, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix everything well. (Since baking soda is added, ensure the batter is mixed thoroughly.) 9. Heat a thick-bottomed tawa (iron or non-stick pan). 10. Add 2 teaspoons of oil. Pour two ladles of batter onto the pan and spread slightly to make it thick like a bun. 11. Cover with a lid and cook patiently on low flame. The outside should turn golden and crispy, while the inside remains soft. 12. Once one side is cooked well, flip and cook the other side. 13. When both sides are done, remove and serve hot. Serve this soft and fluffy bun dosa with spicy tomato chutney or onion chutney for best taste. Try our other recipes...
