Driving in Germany: Flooded Autobahn A61 Alternative Route (A4, A555, A565) from Cologne via Bonn

#A61closure #Autobahn #Hochwasser Recently this part of the West of Germany experienced severe flooding, which damaged a lot of the local infrastructure. Among the damaged roads are parts of the Autobahn A61 which have been completely washed away. A busy stretch of the A61 is now closed and through-traffic is diverted via this alternative route. It's via the A4 to Cologne, then A555 to Bonn and the A565 from Bonn to Kreuz Meckenheim (A61). As explained on some of the A61 videos I uploaded previously, the A61 is an important through route carrying a lot of freight traffic. Most of this traffic will now use this alternative route, which will probably lead to a lot of congestion once the summer break is over. In this video you can drive along on the alternative route. Even though the video was made on a Sunday afternoon during the summer holidays, there is already quite a bit of traffic.
