Intramuros, City of Manila February 27, 2025 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. launches the Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli (PBBM) Pasig River Urban Development Project - Phase 3 featuring the Fort Santiago Riverwalk in Intramuros, City of Manila on February 27, 2025. The Project is poised to attract more tourists to Intramuros, opening a scenic and convenient link between the historic citadel of Fort Santiago and the revitalized Pasig River Esplanade. It provides a significant boost to the accessibility of Intramuros as visitors can already enter Fort Santiago through its Postigo Nuestra Señora de Soledad river gate, aside from the main entrance gate along Sta. Clara Street. Upon arrival, the President and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos inspect the Maestranza Esplanade, a designed public space that enhances accessibility and connectivity along the Pasig Riverfront. It features a shared pedestrian and bicycle pathway, ensuring a seamless and safe experience for walkers, joggers and cyclists. Spearheaded by the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig River Urban Development (IAC-PRUD) and chaired by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the PBBM Project aims to revive the vitality of the historic Pasig River and transform it into a thriving hub for commerce, tourism and connectivity.
