Full course condensed into 3mins. The Course: Terrain: Say goodbye to mud-splattered shoes! Widnes parkrun is almost entirely run on tarmac paths. While some sections might get a bit damp with leaves or puddles after rain, it's generally a smooth ride. Elevation: This is where Widnes really shines! It's famously flat, flat, flat! One parkrunner even noted it as the "9th fastest course in the UK." So if you're looking to smash your 5k time, this could be the spot. Don't expect any calf-burning climbs here. Route: The 5k course consists of three kidney-shaped laps around the perimeter of Victoria Park. You'll start and finish near the bandstand, opposite the café. The route is clockwise, taking you past the war memorial, fountain, and a new statue of local hero Thomas Mottershead. You'll even get a pleasant loop around the duck pond, carefully designed to avoid any stairs. The paths are wide, which is a bonus for avoiding congestion...Oh and the path is tarmac!! Location: Widnes parkrun takes place in the lovely Victoria Park, Birchfield Road, Widnes, Cheshire, WA8 6PX. It's conveniently located, with the train station being close enough to walk from. Facilities: After you've crossed that finish line, you won't be left wanting! Victoria Park boasts Esposito's Café, which is right by the start/finish area. It's a popular spot for post-parkrun coffee and snacks, with reviewers mentioning "lovely coffee and food." Plus, there are toilets and baby changing facilities within the café – a definite win for families. Parking: While parkrun encourages walking, cycling, or using public transport, if you do need to drive, there is parking available on the roads surrounding Victoria Park. There's also a small car park at St Marks Gate, right next to the event village, but be aware that this can fill up quickly. It's always a good idea to arrive early to secure a spot.
