We begin the main campaign with Mission 1: Form the Vanguard, as the New Republic assembles Vanguard Squadron to investigate a sudden communications blackout in the Bormea Sector. After splitting into two elements, Vanguard jumps to Brentaal to search for missing scout ships, only to find debris and signs of Imperial interference. The mission quickly escalates as TIE fighters launch from a Gozanti-class cruiser, forcing Vanguard to fight through enemy patrols while scanning wreckage to trace the source of the jamming signal. The trail leads to the Cavas system, where Imperial jamming ships are discovered and destroyed under heavy escort. With the jammers down, Vanguard reunites to face waves of TIEs and an Arquitens-class cruiser, bringing the mission to a climactic engagement before returning to the Temperance.
