FYIC 2026 Day 28 | Fivoc Seed Fragment | Zentangle Practice

Welcome to Day 28 of FYIC 2026 – A Fragment of Your Imagination 🎨 Today’s fragment is Fivoc, a seed-shaped fragment by Gildo Sobrino - and this one was great fun to draw. Fivoc is built from channels of repeated, tethered auras, which gives the fragment a really distinctive rhythm. As the fragment repeats across the reticulum, those channels begin to feel almost like little creatures crawling across the tile, adding movement, personality and lots of textural interest. In this version, I leaned into that sense of repetition rather than trying to vary things too much. Letting the auras do their thing creates a fragment that feels busy in a satisfying way, without becoming overwhelming. In this lesson, I focus on: working with a seed-shaped fragment building texture using tethered aura lines keeping repetition consistent to enhance rhythm allowing playful imagery to emerge naturally through pattern Fivoc is a lovely reminder that fragments don’t always need strong contrast or heavy shading to be effective - sometimes texture and repetition are more than enough.
