Welcome to Day 29 of FYIC 2026 – A Fragment of Your Imagination 🎨 Today’s fragment is Eisenherz, a square fragment by Priska Vogel, and this is one of my favourites from the challenge. What I love most about Eisenherz is its simplicity. The fragment is made up of simple spirals emerging from each corner, with nestled orb shapes tucked neatly between them. It’s very restrained, but that’s exactly where its strength lies. Because the structure is so clean, Eisenherz offers lots of possibilities once you start rotating and repeating it. Depending on how you orient the fragment in your reticulum, the spirals and orbs interact in different ways, creating a variety of subtle meta-patterns across the tile. In this lesson, I focus on: working with a simple square fragment exploring rotation and repetition noticing how nested shapes interact as patterns repeat allowing elegance and restraint to carry the design Eisenherz is a lovely reminder that a fragment doesn’t need to be complex to be effective. A few well-placed lines, repeated thoughtfully, can be just as engaging - and very satisfying to draw. This lesson is part of the Fragment of Your Imagination Challenge 2026, hosted by 7 Forests 5 Rivers in collaboration with Musterquelle. Throughout January, I’m sharing: a full narrated lesson each day here on YouTube a timelapse reel across my social channels an additional combined tile video every four days, bringing fragments together in a larger composition 📄 Helpful Links 👉 FYIC 2026 Challenge info (7 Forests 5 Rivers): https://sevenforests.wordpress.com/20... 👉 FYIC 2026 PDF handout: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iuES... 👉 Free Introduction to Zentangle lesson: https://ivys-corner.com/free-intro 👉 Blog: Understanding Fragments and Reticula: https://ivys-corner.com/understanding... ☕ Support my work on Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/ivyscorner If you’re drawing along, I’d love to know how you played with this one - did you rotate it a lot, or keep the orientation consistent?
