Twentieth Century Nicoville presents another patriotic AMV for this up-and-coming Independence Day. This time, it is a grand amv through America's history, abridged. From its beginnings in the fire of revolution, to the baptism of a reborn nation through the fields of civil war, to the rise of America's superpower status, America has seen its fair share of Golden Ages and dark times, but united we stand is the motto of our land, and we stand together in hopes to create a more perfect union, a better union for all peoples against the tyrannies of the world, as America stands on that shining city on a hill, of freedom and liberty. What better way to express that idea through the classic American patriotic song, The Battle Hymn of The Republic. This piece was written in 1856 by William Steffe. This was originally a hymn from Revivalist America entitled "Say, Brothers will you Meet Us", also known as "Glory Hallelujah", but this song has become associated with the abolitionist who died in a raid on Harper's Ferry, John Brown. The lyrics were changed by Julia Ward Howe in 1861 to reflect on the nation on the move, mobilized against the seceding traitors of the Confederacy. This piece became popular in the Union during the Civil War, and has defined many Americans who dream of freedom and fights for their rights, to be free, to be American, to live that dream that many of us hold dear. This piece defines the American ideals that many clamor to every year to be apart of that dream, the American Dream. God bless America!
