📣 About the webinar Companies today are being challenged to create both business and social value. These goals are often contradictory yet interdependent, creating paradoxical tensions that invoke conflict and defensive actions. So, how can managers better deal with these tensions to create shared value? In this webinar, Prof. Daniel Chng will share ideas from his research on Chinese social enterprises, for-profit organisations with explicit social missions as their primary goals and which derive significant proportions of their operating funds from commercial business activities. Prof. Chng will discuss what unique actions social entrepreneurs take, how they take these actions, and how these actions lead to a form of leadership that helps enterprises effectively manage paradoxical tensions to achieve dual social and business goals. 📣 About our speaker Dr. Daniel Chng is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Chair of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department at CEIBS. Prior to joining CEIBS, he was an Assistant Professor of Management at SKK Graduate School of Business, Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, and a Sloan Faculty Fellow at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed his Ph.D. in Management (2006) at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Chng teaches strategic management, organisational turnaround, global strategy, organisational theory and design, managerial decision making, and strategic consulting to MBA students as well as managers and top executives of multinational firms and government agencies in China, South Korea, and Singapore. He was awarded the MBA Teaching Excellence Award at SKK Graduate School of Business in 2008 for excellence in curriculum design and teaching.
