As the chief of West Michigan’s biggest police department prepares to trade snow for sunshine with a move south next month, he’s looking back on his work to rebuild the bridges between his officers and the people they protect and serve. Chief Eric Winstrom has led the Grand Rapids Police Department for almost four years, having a number of difficult conversations with the media throughout that time.
