We are finally in AKAROA! OMG this place is out of this world! Akaroa is so beautiful and so unique, we simply couldn't miss it during our visit to Christchurch. And there is so much to see here. In this travel vlog, we are showing our picks on top things to do in Akaroa. Akaroa is located about 1,5 hour drive from Christchurch. And that drive is epic! Plan some extra time for stops at scenic lookouts. Before getting to Akaroa, make a stop at the local cheese shop - Barry's Bay. This is where famous cheese is made and distributed from all around New Zealand. First thing to do in Akaroa is to book a dolphin safari tour. This is the only place on the South Island to see world's smallest dolphins - Hector's Dolphins. We took a tour with Akaroa Dolphins - locally owned and operated business. Enjoy the walk around the town - there are lots of beautiful buildings and monuments to see. Make sure to get to Akaroa Lighthouse as well.
