Part 2 is here, the launch of After Eight at Point Hope Maritime Shipyard in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This video follows the lift and captures the full launch process from start to finish, beginning with a quick timelapse of the cradle lowering into the harbour as After Eight floats off and leaves the shipyard. After that, everything is real time as the scaffolding and access structure are moved away, the loader hooks up to the cart, and After Eight is pulled along the spur line and onto the turntable. Once she is centered, the turntable is rotated to line up with the cradle, the stinger is attached, and After Eight is carefully pushed onto the cradle. From there, the cradle lowers into the harbour and at exactly the right point After Eight floats free, leaves Point Hope, and heads back home, with the final stretch showing the cradle rising back up out of the water to complete the operation. Point Hope Maritime Shipyard is part of the Ralmax Group of Companies and employs skilled tradespeople from around the world.
