A reupload in better quality. Original upload: • MBS-4 returns to the air for its First Fre... On February 24, 1986 at 9am, after incorrect information circulated that Ferdinand Marcos and co. had left the country, Fidel Ramos sent 25 rebel troops to seize the NMPC Broadcast Center. But Ramos and troops attacked their enemy too early. Shots were exchanged at the station as Marcos, accompanied by his family, announced to Philippine TV that he was still indeed at the palace. The rebel troops’ leader, Col. Mariano Santiago, stood in front of the entrance of the broadcast center, shouting at NMPC employees and defenders of the broadcast center through a bullhorn to surrender the station. Soon, they would begin to leave the building. Rebel troops occupied the building and arrested those who remained inside. At exactly 9:56 am, as Marcos was speaking mid-sentence at his press conference, the broadcast was cut off. By 1:45 pm, Channel 4 was on the air again. Orly Punzalan would announce to audiences, "Channel 4 is on the air again to serve the people." Maharlika Broadcasting System and the National Media Production Center would become the New People's Media Center, later New TV 4, and eventually People's Television Network. The February 25, 1986 broadcast of Channel 4 is available on YouTube and includes the historic announcement by June Keitley-Castro.
