A repeat offender was suspected to be in the store and they suspected she was going to leave the store with merchandise without making payment for it. Officers responded to the parking lot and was notified that the subject in question had just walked out with a shopping cart full of merchandise without making payment for any of it. Officers saw the suspect that matched the description given and officers went and made contact with this female and placed the suspect in custody. The suspect was identified. A subject that the officer is familiar with that is a suspect in Theft by Shoplifting incidents all over the area, including inside Athens-Clarke County. The cart full of merchandise was recovered (clothing and bedding) and returned to the store. The total value of the stolen/recovered merchandise was found to be $524.64. The suspect was barred from TJ Maxx for 2 years. Central was notified of this barring. The suspect was transported to CCSO and booked for Theft by Shoplifting (Felony).
