Julian Bream BBC Radio Recital, first broadcast in 1976. A lively discussion between guitarist Julian Bream and radio host Peter Sensier from the program "The Classical Guitar" BACH - CHACONNE, BWV 1004 (04:23) This is the 2nd recording that Julian Bream made of Bach's Chaconne from the Violin Partita No. 2, BWV 1004. Many people regard this as Bream's finest version in terms of performance and sound quality. It is available as a commercial CD on the Testament label. SOR - SONATA OP. 15B (22:15) Bream never made a commercial recording of this charming work which makes this performance all the more valuable. FRICKER - PASEO (34:17) A work that was commissioned by Julian Bream himself with an interesting background story that Bream tells in his discussion with Peter Sensier. This was the first broadcast performance of the work. FALLA - HOMENAJE POUR LE TOMBEAU DE DEBUSSY (46:50) This is the piece that Bream always returned to - from his first commercial recording in 1956 to the final documentary in 2003. It was the piece that Bream played for Benjamin Britten to encourage him to write for the guitar. SEARLE - FIVE (56:25) Another work commissioned by Julian Bream. Before the performance Bream, once again, gives some insights into it's origin. GUITAR - JOSE ROMANILLOS
