Guanghua Temple of Wutai Mountain is located in the northwest corner of Taihuai Town. As one of the "Top Ten Yellow Temples" on Wutai Mountain, it belongs to the Gelug Sect (Yellow Sect) of Tibetan Buddhism and serves as a core monastery of the Zhangjia Hutuktu Living Buddha lineage, witnessing the long history of cultural integration between Han and Tibetan Buddhism. Founded in the Northern Song Dynasty, the temple was initially a Han Buddhist monastery. After reconstruction in the 12th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1886), it was officially converted into a Yellow Sect monastery under the jurisdiction of the Zhangjia Living Buddha, becoming an important stronghold for the spread of Tibetan Buddhism in the Han region of northern China. Facing south, the temple integrates Han-style layout with Tibetan-style features. Along the central axis are the Mountain Gate, Heavenly King Hall, Mahavira Hall, Manjusri Hall and other main buildings. The overhanging eaves and brackets of the halls retain the characteristics of Han-style ancient architecture, while decorations such as prayer wheels and Tibetan-style statues highlight the Yellow Sect charm. The temple enshrines exquisite statues of the Three Buddhas, Master Tsongkhapa, Manjusri Bodhisattva, etc. The murals combine Han and Tibetan painting techniques, covering themes of Tibetan Buddhist myths and classic stories, with high artistic value. The ancient pine in the temple is said to have been planted by the 2nd Zhangjia Living Buddha, adding a sense of historical depth. Currently, Guanghua Temple is open to the public free of charge, with unique night lighting. It is solemn during the day and dazzling at night. It is not only a sacred place for Tibetan Buddhist believers to worship, but also an important scenic spot to experience the charm of Han-Tibetan cultural integration.
