You can understand your anxiety, your patterns, your trauma, and your history - and still feel fear in your body. Many women reach a point in their healing or personal growth journey where they know what’s going on. They 'get it' They’ve done the therapy. Read the self-help and psychology books. Built insight and self-awareness. And yet they still find themselves freezing, overthinking, people-pleasing, flinching, or reacting in ways that don’t seem to match what they know. In this episode, I explore why that happens, why that doesn’t necessarily mean 'healing' hasn’t worked - and why insight alone isn't always enough for things to change. I cover the role of memory and our felt experiences, the difference between explicit memory (what you can consciously recall and explain) and implicit memory (what your body remembers), how the nervous system learns through experience, and why anxiety isn’t always irrational - sometimes it’s a remembering and often it's information. This episode includes real-life examples of how this shows up at work, in relationships, and in everyday moments where you know you’re okay - but your body doesn’t feel it yet. And your nervous system doesn't feel safe. This episode is an invitation to move from criticising yourself and asking “What’s wrong with me?” Towards asking, with curiosity and compassion, “What is my nervous system responding to right now?” Because you’re not broken. Your body has been paying attention. And once you start exploring what messages it might be sending you - you might start to discover the missing piece you need, to start feeling safe in your body and your mind. 0:00 You Can Know the Truth and Still Feel Fear 2:10 When Healing Makes Sense but Still Feels Hard 5:30 Why Insight Doesn’t Equal Safety 9:20 Explicit vs Implicit Memory 13:40 How the Body Remembers Without Words 18:10 Triggers, Patterns and Memory Networks 22:40 “I Know I’m Safe” - Why the Body Still Reacts 26:50 A Real-Life Example: The Sunday Night Feeling 31:10 Not All Anxiety Comes From the Same Place 35:30 Reading the Room and Freezing at Work 40:20 Social Threat, Shame and the Nervous System 44:50 Why Insight Alone Doesn’t Switch This Off 49:20 Working With Your Nervous System (Not Against It) 53:10 Step One: Naming What’s Happening 56:20 Step Two: Memory, Present or Change? 1:00:10 Responding With Grounding and Discernment 1:04:40 When Adapting Is Wisdom, Not Failure 1:08:40 If You Don’t Know What You Feel Yet 1:12:10 Bringing It Back: Safety and Remembering 1:15:30 Closing Reflection - She Is Here
